What Causes Wear in the Center of a Tire?

Center tire wear occurs when the middle of the tread wears faster than the shoulders.

When both outer edges of a tire wear faster than the center, insufficient inflation is a common possibility.

Driving for extended periods with low tire pressure can change how the tire carries the vehicle's weight and place additional stress on the shoulder areas. Vehicle loading, tire fitment, and operating conditions may also contribute.
