Frequently Asked Questions

Does Tire Discounters check brakes?

We sure do, and we do it for FREE.

Whether you’re hearing a squeak, feeling a pulse in the pedal, or just want peace of mind before a road trip, our certified techs will inspect your brakes at no charge. No gimmicks. No pressure. Just real answers from people who actually know what they’re looking at. If your brakes are in good shape, we’ll tell you. If they’re not, we’ll show you exactly what’s going on, and talk through your options like actual humans. And if you need service? You’re covered with:

• Lifetime brake pad replacement (yep, for life).
• Free rotor resurfacing with qualifying service (only major retailer who includes it).

When should I replace my brake pads/rotors/fluid?

Your brakes don’t last forever, but they can last a whole lot longer when they’re inspected regularly. Here’s a general guide:

Brake Pads usually need replacing every 30,000–70,000 miles, depending on your driving habits, vehicle, and pad material.

Rotors may need replacing around 60,000–80,000 miles, but can often be resurfaced at least once (and we’re one of the only shops who still do it).

Brake fluid should be replaced about every 2–3 years, or as recommended by your owner’s manual.

We’ll check all of this for FREE, every time you visit. Come on by.

What are the warning signs of brake problems?

Your car usually gives you a heads-up before your brakes go from “fine” to “uh-oh.” Here’s what to watch (and listen) for:

Squeaking or squealing.
Grinding (this one’s urgent, come see us ASAP).
Pulsing or vibrating when braking.
Brake pedal feels soft, spongy, or low.
Brake light or ABS light comes on.

If you notice any of these, don’t wait. Come by for a FREE brake inspection, and we’ll give it to you straight — no upsells, no pressure.

What are the benefits of resurfacing rotors vs. replacing?

Although replacing is sometimes necessary, most shops will go straight to replacement and charge you for it. At Tire Discounters, we include rotor resurfacing with qualifying brake service. Because if it’s safe to save the part, we do. That’s not common. But it’s the right thing.

If your rotors are in good enough shape, resurfacing shaves off the uneven surface so they’re smooth and true again. Here's why it’s smart:

• Extends rotor life.
• Saves money.
• Restores smooth braking.
