Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my tires need to be replaced?

The easiest way to know is by checking tread depth. If it’s at or below 4/32”, it’s time.

But there are other signs, too:

• Cracks or dry rot in the sidewall
• Uneven wear (usually means it’s time for an alignment, too)
• Frequent air loss
• A vibration or pull while driving.

Not sure? Swing by, we’ll inspect them for free. No pressure, just honest advice from folks who know tires inside and out.

How long do tires usually last by mileage and age?

Most tires last 40,000–70,000 miles depending on the brand, product, driving habits, and how well you keep them rotated and aligned.

But tires can “age out” too—rubber breaks down over time, even if they still look okay. Stop by and we’ll check them out for FREE and let you know if they’re still good to go or ready to retire.

Can I replace just one or two tires, not the whole set?

Yes, but with some fine print. It depends on the tread depth, type of vehicle (especially AWD), and how much wear your other tires have.

If there’s too much difference, it can mess with your ride, wear out your suspension, or even void warranties. Typically, for safety, it is best to replace them all at once or in pairs, front or rear at the same time. We can measure everything and walk you through your options. Our goal is to keep you safe and your budget intact, never to upsell a full set you don’t actually need.

Do vehicles need different tires on the front and rear?

Some high-performance vehicles (especially rear-wheel drive) come with different tire sizes front to back.

It’s all about balance, traction, and performance. But for most vehicles you’ll usually run the same size on all four wheels, and rotating them regularly helps them last longer. Not sure what your car calls for? Check out our Tire Finder, check your door sticker, owner's manual, or call us and we'll dig into the OEM specs for you.

How do I find the right tire size for my vehicle?

Check our Tire Finder. Just enter your vehicle details and we’ll do the rest.

You can also check the sticker inside your driver’s door. It lists your factory-recommended tire size, load rating, and speed rating. You can also look in your owner’s manual, but ask us, it’s easier.

Can I change tire size?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no, and sometimes yes, but don’t.

Changing tire size can affect speedometer accuracy, clearance, and safety systems like ABS or ADAS. That said, we’ll walk you through what’s safe, what’s legal, and what actually makes sense for your vehicle. We’ll even check fitment, rolling diameter, and handling impact before recommending anything. Want a beefier look or better snow traction? Let’s talk options, without risking your ride.

What do speed rating and load index mean?

Speed Rating is how fast the tire can safely dissipate the heat generated by contact with the road.

Load Index tells you how much weight each tire can carry safely.

The higher the speed the more heat is generated and higher the speed rating the more heat it can safely handle. Put the wrong combo on your vehicle, and you could end up with premature wear, poor handling, or worse. Need help sorting through it? Just ask. We’ll make sure your tires match your car’s needs, and your wish list.
